Tin mining in Bangka Belitung Province of Indonesia brings about a dilemma. Parts of the local residents perceive tin mining as a “blessing” because it serves as their main daily livelihood source. While the others call it a “curse” due to its contribution to environmental damage. So, how should this tin dilemma be managed? How should we make sure that the mining is conducted sustainably while ensuring that the locals are benefited from the process? Who should compromise and why?
